The Design of Base Station

The Design of Base Station

Why is the Base Station Important?

In the robot vacuum community, there's a common complaint: people spend more time cleaning the base station than enjoying clean floors.
If the base station requires more effort than the floor, automation loses its meaning. And when a docking station becomes a place where dirt, bacteria, and odors build up, it defeats the entire reason people buy a robot vacuum.
xLean TR1 was designed around one clear idea: zero manual maintenance. The goal isn't to add more features, but to remove human involvement from base station upkeep as much as possible.
That's why its design is guided by five simple principles: Clean. Hygienic. Odor-free. Quiet. Automatic.

Design Principles

1. Clean

Auto-cleaning isn't just about clean floors. It means never having to touch dirt—on the robot or inside the base station. TR1 was designed so cleaning stays where it belongs: inside the system, not in your hands.

2. Hygienic

The base station is where dirt, water, and debris concentrate. Without proper cleaning and drying, it quickly becomes a place where bacteria and mold grow. Hygiene isn't optional—it has to be built into the design.

3. Odor-Free

A base station can look clean, tidy, but smell bad. Moisture and mixed waste create odors over time if they aren't handled properly. Preventing smell means controlling moisture, not masking it.

4. Quiet

Automation shouldn't work with disturbing you. Cleaning and drying should happen quietly. When a base station runs in the background, it fits naturally into everyday life.

5. Automation

True automation means no manual involvement. The base station and the cleaning robot complete the entire self-cleaning process on their own, minimizing the time and effort users need to spend on station maintenance.

xLean TR1 Base Station

Effortless Cleaning

xLean TR1 uses 167℉ hot water to automatically wash both the robot and the base station. The temperature is high enough to remove stubborn residue and eliminate bacteria, all without any manual involvement.
xLean TR1 cleans until the job is done. The system also knows when the job is done. During self-cleaning, the robot’s built-in Green-Laser Dirt Sensor works together with the OMNI Station to monitor dirt levels in real time, and only ends the cycle once the rollers are clean. Cleaning isn't running a program—it's about delivering a clean and standard result.
The tray stays clean on its own. A self-cleaning roller and open design prevent buildup, leaving almost nothing to maintain.

Hygiene

Cleaning alone isn't enough—everything needs to dry. After washing, TR1 dries the entire system with 149℉ hot air, removing residual moisture before bacteria or mold can develop. The result is a base station that stays hygienic over time, without extra steps or attention.

Odor Prevention at the Source

A system can look clean and still smell bad. Odor and mildew are among the most common and frustrating problems with base stations.
TR1 tackles the problem at its source: moisture and waste buildup. Fast drying with 149℉ hot air prevents prolonged damp conditions, significantly reducing the chance of odor formation.
TR1 also features a solid-liquid separation system, keeping solid debris and wastewater apart to prevent fermentation and odor. When connected to an automatic water supply and drainage, wastewater is discharged directly, further reducing odor and maintenance.

Quiet Operation

xLean TR1 is designed to minimize noise and disruption. Noise levels remain below 75 dB during washing and 45 dB during drying, without sharp or high-frequency sound. That means drying doesn't need to be turned off. The system runs quietly in the background.

Less to Do

When connected to home plumbing, xLean TR1 automatically draws clean water and drains wastewater. There are no clean or dirty water tanks to handle. The only routine task left is emptying the dry dust bin. Everything else takes care of itself.

Summary

xLean TR1 isn't designed to demand attention. It's designed to disappear into daily life. Auto-cleaning, auto-drying, auto-draining, solid-liquid separation, and automatic water management aren't about showing off technology. They exist so users can step out of the cleaning and maintenance process entirely.
